Construction History

The Scythe-II Class main battle cruiser was the primary warship of the Galactic Alliance Defense Fleet approximately one hundred and fifty years after the Yuuzhan Vong War. Designed and produced by the famed Mon Calamari Shipyards, the Scythe was a radical departure from normal Mon Calamari starship design. In addition to the unique front blade, the Scythe-class was a mass-produced, standardized design, unlike prior generations of the Mon Calamari Star Cruiser.

In response to a request by Drake Rylan, a Jedi Knight and Friend, Mon Calamari Shipyards executive Bollog Thinsand began a quiet redesign of the Scythe-Class Battle Cruiser to meet the Jedi's needs. The first ship of the refit was christened The Resistance and commissioned to Rylan's budding taskforce as its new capital-grade command vessel.

Layout

The mighty Resistance represents a pinnacle in warship technology for Mon Calamari shipyards in terms of its technological innovations and its dramatic internal redesign. While the majority of the ship's gunnery decks are reserved in the mighty Blade, the central platform has now been redesigned to hold not only the ship's large bridge but a secondary engineering deck reserved for the ship's unique power supply.

The crew compartments are now located strictly along the dorsal hull with the docking bays reserved for the ventral surfaces. It was determined to run the engineering deck through the very center of the powerful warship, a cunning innovation that maximizes the ship's efficiency and further protects its most critical components from the hardships of fleet warfare.

Innovations

Modular components were used to ensure speedy repairs and modifications. This also serves to break the ship's decks into compartments that are individually armored in order to prevent critical internal damage and increase the ship's stability under fire. Special Titan-Alloy was designed and implemented, forming a dense solid-armor skin around the ship's exterior. Critical compartments were double, or tripled plated in order to ensure maximum protection.

The Resistance also boasts some of the most complex and innovative shielding and attack suites in the Galaxy. Rather than one large shield generator, the Resistance boasts dozens of smaller units working in unison in order to maintain fast recharge times and higher overall energy output. It's laser cannons and ion cannons were the most compact and powerful in the galaxy, fed off individual power supplies that are slaved in a bank, rather than simply constructed in a bank. This keeps damage to control links from inhibiting all the cannons from working.

In the mighty Blade of the warship the high-output weapon batteries have been cunningly arrayed with 180 degree tracking turrets which allow the ship to cover not only the forward firing positions but to pivot and cover a substantial arc sidelong. This significantly improves the ship's broad-side and stern-side firing patterns.

Designed, however, to be a hard-charging warship with a sleek profile and tremendous weapon coverage the ship's massive engines still allow The Resistance unmatched maneuverability for a Capital-Grade Battle Cruiser and uncanny quickness.
